Ivry Gitlis, one of the world’s greatest violinists and artists is a close friend of Musica Mundi since numerous years. This great musician inspires our young talents not only by his unique playing but also by his wisdom and his vision of the world. To celebrate Ivry’s 90th birthday in 2012, Musica Mundi prepared for him a special event. His close friends, Martha Argerich, Maxim Vengerov, Mischa Maisky, Steven Isserlis, Janine Janssens, Khatia Buniatishvili and many others gathered on the stage of BOZAR in Brussels, in front of a fully packed hall. Stories, anecdotes and lots of musical moments were shared by this group of artists and friends that evening to the delight of the public. To end this special evening, 90 young violinists took the stage and performed together for «their» Ivry.
