On March 21st, we wrapped up our unforgettable Prague adventure with a day full of music, history, and inspiration.
We began with a visit to Prague’s beautiful train station, an Art Nouveau gem, where we also saw the moving statue of Sir Nicholas Winton, the British hero who saved over 600 children during the Holocaust.
Next stop: the gorgeous Smetana Museum, right on the banks of the Vltava River. And of course… there was a piano—so you can imagine what happened next 🤷♀️🙂
Our musical journey continued at the Prague Conservatory, where we had the privilege of meeting violinist Jan Talich, first violinist of the renowned Talich String Quartet and a longtime friend of the Musica Mundi course and festival since 1999. He shared insights about his life, studies, and career, as well as the realities of quartet playing.
Since only two members of the Talich Quartet were in Prague, they were joined by two musicians from the Zemlinsky Quartet. Together, they performed movements from Smetana and Dvořák quartets—an absolute joy for everyone present.
To our delight they were able to join us for lunch, after which we headed back to our bus for our long journey back to Waterloo.
A truly wonderful trip—special thanks to our guide Wolfgang and our drivers Benoit and Thomas!
Now the big question is… where to next year? 🙂🙂
