Last night, June 5th, Musica Mundi School’s Bach concert hall rang out with the magnificent sound of the school’s first ever string orchestra concert.
And what a concert!!
Under the baton of the school's co-founder and artistic director, Leonid Kerbel, our string players opened with an exquisite performance of the Shostakovich Chamber Symphony, a moment of beauty and emotional intensity which led some people in the audience to shed tears.
Second on the programme was Vivaldi’s oboe concerto, brought to life most wonderfully by one of our graduating students, oboist Ilayda Afsar.
And to end with, Tchaikowsky’s most beloved Serenade for strings which had the public itching to get up and dance to the sways of the catchy valse.
Another wonderful first for the school, but definitely NOT THE LAST !!
